Greater Dayton Dance Network: CANA!

CANA!

Dancing with Christ & Christ-followers in Freedom and Defiant Joy

Jesus's first miracle was in Cana, on the third day of celebrating marriage.

Can you imagine Dancing with Jesus and his disciples?

Christ's Body Was Made to Dance.

Let's Dance Together to Bring the Joy and Light of Christ Into the World

20 seconds - Christians Leading the World into "Dance Mode"

Problem:

  • We don't dance enough.

  • Dance heals, frees, and deepens the richness of life.

  • Dancing connects us to ourselves, the divine, and each other.

  • We are in short-supply of opportunities and invitations to really dance together.

Solution:

  • Dance More!

  • Host and Invade gatherings to dance more collectively, like we used to.

Strategy in Dayton:

  • Map people and organizations Who Love to Dance in Greater Dayton

  • Cana Dancers Create and Share their Cana Song Playlists (see below)

  • Host an Annual "CANA Gathered" Event for the Church of Dayton

    • City-wide celebration and dance party with and for Christ-followers.

    • Should feel like a wedding reception, celebrating the union of the bride, The Church, and the bridegroom, Christ.

    • Should give us a glimpse of Heaven - where the Trinity and the Communion of Saints is forever celebrating.

  • Initially, 1-4 times a year, Cana Dancers carefully "Scatter", as the spirit leads, into secular places and spaces to bring the Joyful, Defiant, and Relational Light of Christ.

  • Create a missional secular-facing multi-purpose space (restaurant, bar, club, meeting space, etc.) near Downtown Dayton to host all people and to transform culture through hospitality, conversations, and dancing. Name ideas:

    • "Reception" - Because 1. We want to receive people, and 2. We want the space to feel like a Wedding Reception whereby everyone is a friend or family member

    • What's your name idea?
